Marianne: I hope for your sake that God has a sense of humor.
Olive: Oh, I have 17 years worth of anecdotal proof that He does.

I love to laugh. I believe God loves humor and joy and I have somewhat more than 17 years of anecdotal proof that He does. I think that when we rejoice He is laughing right along with us; laughing and dancing! The Bible tells us that we are created in His image. It makes sense, then, that God Himself would have a sense of humor. A God without humor is not a God that knows mankind. A God that can’t laugh doesn’t know the joy of failing and the embarrassing hysteria of squirting milk out of your nose in a fit of laughter. If a God can’t understand that, he can’t understand man.
We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” (Psalm 126:1-3, NLT)
Humor has the power to heal. It heals our bodies and our souls and lets us help others when they are hurting. When my dad died, it was obviously a difficult time for everyone in my family, but my strongest memory is not of the sadness and loss that we were feeling. The memory I cherish is one of laughter through the tears. We were all at the church, waiting for the funeral home to arrive with the casket. As it grew later and later, we became concerned about where they could be. They finally arrived about 20 minutes after the service should have started and told us that they had a flat tire along the way. Immediately, my mom and I looked at each other and said, “So, you CAN be late for your own funeral.” That was all it took; just a few seconds of laughter had taken away some of the pain. Now, when I look back, I still remember the hurt, but more often I remember that there can be joy, even when I hurt.
So, this is a place where I post things that I find funny. I hope it brings you some joy and laughter. :D
